It’s Spring Racing time of the year again which means that it’s time to spend lots of money on the races. Being a betting man myself, I was studying the form guide early yesterday morning to work out who’d win me some money. I put about ten different bets on all up and by the end of the day, I was up on my original investment, if only by a few dollars, so I was happy with the outcome. As far as the actual Melbourne Cup race went, I put a couple of bucks on Makabye Dever (the favourite) just in case. I don’t usually bet on the favourites, but I decided to make an exception on this one. To my surprise, the horse won and brought me back a few dollars. Of course, having such low odds, and putting such a small amount on it didn’t bring too many returns, but it’s better than nothing.
It’s probably a bad idea that I’ve had a taste of the “gambling scene” again as it’s just so much fun. With more race days ahead, maybe I will be able to pull off a few more wins. It’s all in the name of fun at the end of the day. I’m even considering going to the races in person on Saturday with Marc but that’s still unconfirmed at this stage.
