Well last night I officially got my life back with the conclusion of FAME. Although there’s still bump-out to go, pretty much all the hard work is over. I have to say that I really enjoyed working on this one. As I said to Pip last night, everything seems to go a lot smoother when people are actually enjoying what they are doing, and I think that’s why it was such a success. People often don’t realise how much work goes into these shows and being on the tech crew for as long as I have, I know what it’s like when you are left behind in the shadows while the leads take the spotlight. Last night, after the show, I was presented with a “techie vest” with the words “Venue Manager” on the back. I have to say it is by far the best gift I have ever received. So impressed was I, that I wore it for the rest of the night - which prompted a discussion with Steve about why we continue to enjoy these jobs! So a big thank you to Luke for organising it. I know you were talking about it, but I guess I never thought it would actually happen!!
There is so much I could say about the show but like many things I suppose you had to be there to truly understand the story. So without an explanation, I’ll just list a few of them here… Don and Dale’s faces when told about the XLR-Cat5-Coax feed, Borgchat and the countless number of times you had to look at “acquiring network address” through Act 1, Christopher Columbus, “die in a fire”, Shapes, “the dumpster”, my iPAQ, Liam’s fluffy jacket, FTB pal, Clarabelle, confetti, “the set is on fire”, Pinscan motors and many more. (Feel free to post more below).
Now it’s time to start planning the Tattoo…

Great show James, congrats to all involved (in and out of the spotlight).
