Keg Party II

… only this time with much smaller kegs and one very drunk Vandy!

Yes it seemed only fitting that Richie’s keg party would make a miraculous return this year (I can’t believe it’s gone that quickly either) and there’s really no better way to spend it that throwing a heap of food on the barbie and drinking the night away! That being said, most people drank responsibly - but when Vandy was on the roof of the house, we all knew he had a bit too much. But in between rescuing him after he jumped off the deck or wrestling a keg from his firm grasp, there was plenty of catching up to do. It was great to see Liv and Aim again after such a long time. It’s really hard to keep up with that Toorak group as they seem to be all over the place nowadays. Anyway, the party was a good end to the week and a good way to put the feet up for a while. The thing on everyone’s minds now is will the party make an appearance next year? I say yes. :)

Oh and for the record, I was drinking scotch. None of this beer crap for me!

The Memorial

Today was the memorial service for Robert Pargetter. It was an interesting day that was a true testament to what Robert meant to a lot of people. That being said, the event was a resounding success. And given all the planning that went into it, you’d hope so too! There was one comment that was made about how Robert respected anyone who was willing to stand up for what they believed in, even if he was ultimately going to win out in the end. I think that’s something that was truly one of his traits (and one we’ve all been on the receiving end of!). He will be sadly missed.

iMac ahoy!

iMac

Yes, that’s right, my shiny new iMac has arrived. It was taking it’s sweet time getting here and after the initial backlog of orders, it’s finally made it to my desk. That’s not to say it wasn’t hard work getting it here. You see if my brother had been awake when TNT tried to deliver the package (at 1.15pm) yesterday it wouldn’t have been a problem! But no, so after many calls back and forth, I managed to get them to let me go pick it up today - in Hallam!! Ah the things you do for your toys. :)

Anyway, the thing is totally awesome. I wasn’t too sure about the glossy screen but after going to DesignWyse to look at one before I ordered, I’m quite happy with how it’s turned out. It really depends on the lighting conditions in the room, and well, mine has its back facing the window so there’s no glare problems here.

Other than that, it’s just a Mac. There’s not much different about this than any other - except for me, discovering what it’s like to finally have an iSight built-in and an Apple remote that launches Front Row (not that that’s anything to write home about). At least I’m sweet for the next three years now. At around $2500 it’s a fraction of the price of my Powerbook back in the day. What a bargain!

Out to the airport

It seems to be the travelling time of the year at the moment. With mum leaving for Thailand last week and grandma off to Canada yesterday, it’s suddenly very quiet around the house. All Ed and Oscar seem to do is sleep all day, and all I seem to do as result, is clean up after them! Still, it’s good to have some quiet time, and it’s great that everyone is having a holiday. I’ll be heading up to Bright again in a couple of weeks time, so that will be my chance to relax. It’s a pity all the snow is melting at the moment, especially after such a great start to the season a few months ago. I love the country atmosphere anyway so even if there’s no snow, I’ll still be going up!

I have the day off work today so I’m using the time to catch up with everyone. All I need to do now is find time to take off the other 6 days of overtime that I’ve accrued over Fame and various other functions in August. It’s a hard life I tell you!

Mmmm… scotch

As most people know, I’m a bit of a scotch drinker. So when Chris told me that Safeway have my particular favourite massively reduced (supposedly for fathers day), I really couldn’t resist the temptation. 12 bottles later and I’m in Chivas heaven… and he threw in a mini wine rack to put them in! The burning question is how long it will take to get through all 8.4 litres of the stuff. I guess only time will tell…

Chris Annable - YoursTruly

Okay, so I like finally have something new and exciting to talk about! Today Chris released (and more importantly, finally gave me a copy of) his debut CD. For some reason I ended up with the task of cleaning/rewriting the site for the CD but after a little while there were no less than four people working on various aspects! The result is that you can now purchase your own copy of the album for the low price of $15. And for those playing along at home, that’s less per track than the iTunes Store! While you’re there, you can also preview one of the tracks from the CD (so go there now!).
